Hopeful Easter.

Today, a very good friend of mine sent me an e mail that broke my heart. 2 years ago, and the day after Easter, her son, then 12, shot himself in the head. His death has shattered so many lives and touched so many others.
I was sad to read that Easter brings mixed emotions for her, as a reminder that her son took his own life and that for her, as a Christian, it is representative of Hope and the renewal of life.
Her words spoke deeply to me and so I want to share them.
She said, "Although this time of year is painful for me, because I have to think of the death of my son, I thank God that if it had to be, if the thing had to take place that it took place at this time, because no matter how dark the memory and pain of losing him, I still cannot forget that Easter is a celebration of Hope and some how that helps, not a lot, but just a little and sometimes just a little is just enough. "

I think this time of year, this time of hope, is something we all should cling to, Christian or not. I hope that your Easter Holiday will remind you of the renewal of spring, of life and most importantly of clinging to that tiny trace of humanity that can bring us all together; hope.
